Launch event: Northern American Regional Hub

🎉 The Northern American (Canada and USA) Regional Hub of SocSES is launching in October!

Join Michael Schoon (Arizona State University) and Elena Bennett (McGill University) to brainstorm what the Northern American Hub should do and to discuss how the Hub’s members can best organize themselves to do those things.

SocSES Northern American Regional Hub launch

🗓️ Friday, October 17, 2025

🕑 12pm Eastern (9am Pacific)

🔗 Register to attend here

This will be a 90-minute Zoom session with introductions, brainstorming, and discussions. This is an opportunity for SocSES members based in Canada and the USA to start getting to know each other and figuring out what they want the Northern American Hub to do for them. No preparation needed.

The aim of the SocSES regional hubs is to connect people working in particular regions, supporting place-based work and learning within specific contexts. The regional hubs help amplify local voices and link contextual regional expertise to global sustainability efforts. They foster innovative, context-sensitive solutions by integrating diverse knowledge systems and bridging global and local perspectives. To date, six regional hubs have been set up: Asia, Northern America (Canada & USA), Europe, Latin America, Australia, Aotearoa/New Zealand and Oceania, and Southern Africa. Learn more about the SocSES regional hubs here.
